Organic reach
The people a post reaches without paid promotion, which on every major platform has been falling for over a decade.
The decline is structural rather than punitive. Feeds stopped showing you the accounts you follow and started showing you the best available content from anywhere, so a business page now competes with everything rather than with the other pages you followed.
The other side of that same change is that reach is no longer capped by follower count. A post that performs is shown to people who never followed anything, which is why small accounts now occasionally out-reach much larger ones.
Planning on organic reach alone is planning on a resource that is shrinking. Planning on paid alone is renting an audience. The accounts that work use paid to buy reach for whatever organic already proved.
