Chapter 1
An ordinary Saturday at your store.
You open early, the counter fills up and the phone doesn’t stop. By closing, you can tell some sales slipped away.
-
7:10 AMText Sending my list for the job. Can you have it ready by 8?
The counter is already busy. By 7:40 AM a big-box pro desk has confirmed his order.
-
9:20 AMMissed call Do you have 3/4 inch PEX and fittings in stock?
Everyone is helping customers on the floor. He checks a big-box app that shows stock by store.
-
11:00 AMWebsite form How much is a gallon of interior paint?
Your site doesn’t say. While she waits for a reply, she orders online.
-
3:30 PMMissed call Are you open Sunday? My kitchen faucet just broke.
Google still shows old hours. He drives to the big box instead.
-
6:00 PMEnd of day 4 customers. None made it to your counter.
Monday starts the same way.
None of them were shopping on price alone. They just found someone else first.
Chapter 2
Meanwhile, on the other side of the screen.
Emily is 33, just moved into an older house across town and wants to paint two rooms next weekend. She doesn’t know a hardware store nearby. This is how she looks for you:
She searches on GoogleFrom the couch, at 10:10 PM. She sees three stores a few miles away.
She opens your siteShe wants to know what you carry, your hours and whether you deliver. She finds a storefront photo and a phone number.
She goes backThe store across town shows what it carries and that it delivers. You never hear about it.

Chapter 3
The same night, with your new site.
Emily runs the same search. This time, your site tells her what you carry, when you’re open and that you deliver.
She finds you for what she needsShe lands on your paint page, not your home page.
She gets her answersShe sees you carry what she needs, that you’ll help her choose and that you deliver. Price stops being the only thing she compares.
She orders at 10:30 PMFrom the couch, list ready. In the morning your counter pulls it without a single question.

That’s what we do: the neighbor who searches at night ends up at your counter, not the big box across town.

Marketing for hardware stores that brings neighbors back to your counter
Foot traffic is flat, customers check big-box prices on their phone and the phone rings all day with “do you have this?” We build your new site and work your Google profile so people searching nearby find you, see what you carry and send their list.

Sound familiar?
What hardware store owners tell us.
What we hear behind the counter, and what a new site changes.
-
“Fewer people come in, and they buy less”
What it costs youIndependent retailers ended 2025 with flat transaction counts and stagnant foot traffic (Independent Retailer Index, Q4 2025).
What changes with your new siteA site won’t create demand, but it wins back the searches you lose today: the person looking for a hardware store or a part near them lands at your door. -
“People buy from Amazon and the big boxes”
What it costs youTwo thirds of independents also report rising cost of goods (Independent Retailer Index, Q4 2025), so matching big-box prices isn’t an option.
What changes with your new siteYou won’t win on price. Your site sells what they can’t: in stock today, real advice, cut to size and delivered to the job, with a page per department. -
“The phone rings all day with “do you have this?””
What it costs youOf shoppers who research online before visiting a store, 60% check whether the item is in stock (PowerReviews data cited by Workstand, 2026).
What changes with your new siteDepartments, brands and top sellers in plain sight, clear hours and a text button that arrives with the item already named. Live stock on the site is a separate system. -
“Contractors go with whoever answers first”
What it costs youThey buy every week, so losing one means losing a steady share of your sales.
What changes with your new siteA page for the trade with house accounts, jobsite delivery, early pickup hours and a direct way to send the list.

An e-commerce case study
Verigoodlife: online sales with zero manual steps
We rebuilt the online store of a health and nutrition brand, and every order now processes and ships on its own. It’s the same base we would use if you ever want to sell online; the store is quoted apart from the plan.

Marketing for hardware stores: questions before you hire us
The ones store owners and managers ask most.
How much does it cost?
We set the price after the diagnosis, which is included and takes 2 business days, based on departments, locations and products. The site is billed 50% up front and 50% on delivery, and the monthly plan has a 3-month minimum.
My customers are locals who know me. Do I need this?
Your regulars know you, but they still check your hours on their phone. And the new neighbor, the Sunday emergency and the contractor new to town all find stores on Google.
We already have a page through our co-op. Isn’t that enough?
Co-op pages tend to look the same for every store. Showing up in local searches takes content about your own store, your area and your services.
Do I have to list prices online?
No. The site shows departments, brands and products, with prices only on the featured items you choose, so you’re not updating thousands of SKUs.
How long does it take?
A new site or a redesign of your current one takes about a month, depending on its size. A single store that needs something simpler can start with our Launch site, ready in 2 to 3 weeks.
Will it connect to our POS?
The site works without it: it shows departments, brands and featured items, and orders arrive by text with the item named. Showing live stock and prices from your POS is a separate build.
Do you also build custom software?
Yes: a supplier price list updater with your margin by department, a contractor portal with their pricing, or a materials calculator that builds the order. That’s a separate conversation and a separate quote, apart from the site.
